About the Author

I'm Joe Meloy ('...the excellent pantomime dame...' British Theatre Guide) and I'm an Actor, Pantomime Dame, Producer and Panto Enthusiast. I attended my first Pantomime when I was three and instantly fell in love with one of the most entertaining forms of theatre, in my humble opinion of course! I have been performing in pantomime myself for a number of years having played Widow Twankey to an Ugly Sister, there have been one or two occasions where I haven't been in the dress, but I much prefer putting on my dresses, fake eyelashes and lip stick! I performed my first professional Pantomime at twenty-three years old playing an Ugly Sister in an adult pantomime. I returned the next year to perform as Widow Twankey, from there I went on to play in family pantomimes as; Widow Twankey (twice more!) Dame Dolly Dollop, Nurse Nellie, King Arthur and as Maid Joan for the Hazlitt Theatre.
