Fear grips the trees in the forest as flames engulf a nearby town.

When two children run into the woods for safety, the young pine knows he must help.

But what can he do against the might of metal dragons?

Inspired by the plight of refugees, this charming and uplifting tale gently explores the power of individuals to make a difference.

“It’s perfect for preschoolers and would spark conversation with older kids and adults too.” – A former teacher

“It’s beautiful. I read a lot of WWII poems and your story touched me.” A Polish mother of a child in Year One

About the Author

Sitala is a moon princess. No, really. When she was born the clouds parted and the moon lit up her face. Granted she’s never had that effect again, but still.

Her passion is storytelling and she works for the BBC as a producer on Newsround.

Away from work, Sitala is happiest inventing games and bedtime stories to entertain her own little people.

She also shares a home in Warwickshire with a more sensible other half and two fluffy cats.

Sitala loves swimming and has recently discovered open water swimming.

When she’s not working or writing, she dreams of transforming a damp, cobweb-filled hut into a cosy writing shed, where she can light a fire and indulge her creativity.
